Klitheden.

Due to the rough nature, cold temperatures and heavy westerly winds, the landscape between my home and the beach is very rough almost all year round, with the exception of a short summer period. The beach is sandy white with dunes. Behind the dunes is a fairly deep lake where people used to catch eel. It is possible to see herons wander around catching fish here. After the lake, there is a type of heath landscape specific to Denmark. It is covered with heather and windswept low shrubs and grass. It’s basically untouched for 2000 years, and it is exactly what the landscape looked like during the stone ages.

The songbirds are returning from the south now, and I saw several small yellow and green birds. Unfortunately they were too far away to identify, but at least I now know where they live. The area is also rich in deer, and their paths can be seen criss-crossing the landscape. When it gets a bit warmer, I will go there at dawn (without the dog) and wait for something to show up. It will surely be worth it.
